FISHING is the sport of catching fish with a rod, line, and hook. And it originated as a means of providing food for survival.
Nobody is sure when fishing began. You can be sure it goes back many thousands of years. Probrably pre-historic man invented fishing using things found in nature.
Over the centuries fishing gear developed the the sophisticated equipment available today.
But, Today, fishing is often one of man's principal relaxations and is, in many countries, the most popular participation sport.
Both fishing organizations and individual anglers promote a catch-and-return policy, so they only fish for trophy or for record size.
